The bank reports the change
Banks report each branch they open, close, move or take over. Before closing a branch, a bank must generally tell its customers at least 90 days ahead (Section 42 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act), so your bank may tell you long before the closing shows here.
The FDIC enters it in its records
The FDIC records the change with the date it took effect and the date it was recorded, usually weeks or months after the change, sometimes longer.
Branch Atlas files it under the county
Twice a day this site reads the FDIC's public BankFind data and copies each branch change word for word, with no rewriting and no AI, and links it to the bank's FDIC page so you can check it.
